Groovy New Planter

Craigslist is an addiction...I need to be stopped! I didn't need this planter, but for some reason, I had to have it. Not even sure where the hell I'll put it since I'm running out of room for all my stuff! But, it is a rather groovy looking planter, doncha think?

Now all I have to do is figure out what kind of plants to put in it...perhaps some succulents lining the bottom and something with cascading leaves in the top portion.

Paid $45 bucks for this...many people would think that it was a bargain at that price, but I think I spent too much.  Guess I'm cheap.

Why is it that whenever Mrs Palin opens her mouth, stupid falls out?!

Ugh! The heat and humidity has been unbearable during this second heat wave to hit my area, hence the lack of posts. My poor dog and cat have been suffering through, but at least they have air-conditioning, but even so, the humidity is so thick in the air, it affects you. To help them feel better, I've been putting ice cubes in their water dishes hoping to cool them off a little.

I hope this oppressive heat ends soon. Enjoy Heatwave by Martha and the Vandellas. I really wanted to post a version of this song that my mom sung back in 1977, but I couldn't find the is totally hilarious because my mom is tone deaf! Perhaps I'll put it in a future post, I'm almost certain that there will be another heatwave before the summer is over.

New issue of Lonny magazine is out!

When I first heard of this online magazine, I didn't think I would like it...but I LOVE it!  Definitely fills a void that Domino left behind.  Here are some lovely images from the June/July issue.  Simply gorgeous!

Love the look of animal skin rugs, but hate the idea of killing an animal just so it can stylishly cover my floor.  This rug is a nice alternative...and it looks great.

Love the pops of orange in this room!

I know that animal skins and taxidermy are hot right now, but somehow I find it repulsive to have a dead animal gracing my home.  I like the fake moose head gracing this wall...and its great that no animals were harmed in creating this room...I hope!

This table is fabulous!  I especially love the lucite legs!

Love the look of the world traveler used in this room.  Very elegant.

New Kitchen Table!

Cannot keep this fat cat off the table!

Ok, you could probably care less about my new table, but I'm pretty stoked about it.  Originally I had an Ikea Docksta table, but with my fat cat constantly jumping on it (I've lost the war with him on tabletops), the table became quite wobbly over time.  Even tightening the screws on a regular basis was no help.  My cat also scratched the tabletop pretty good too.  I love my pets, but it really bugs me when they destroy my furniture and accessories.  Thankfully, this is the only large piece of furniture he's ruined...he mostly breaks small pottery and glass pieces.  After searching for about a year for a really super cool looking vintage kitchen table, I finally found one on Craigslist.  It has a formica top made to look like zebra wood.  It is stamped 1970 on the bottom, so it totally fits into my groovy interior.  What really sold me were the legs of the table.  They definitely have a mid-century modern vibe to them.

Love the legs on this table!

Sammy  gives the table his stamp of approval.  He was on it moments after I put it together.

OLD TABLE:  I do love the tulip base but the table was too wobbly.

NEW TABLE!  Is it possible to be in love with a table?  It is incredibly sturdy, and nothing wobbles when Sammy jumps on it.

June Trash Find

Found this chair moments before it ended up in the crusher of the trash truck.  All it needed was a good cleaning and it is good as new.  Not sure what I will do with it at the moment, since I do have an excess of chairs right now.  At the moment, it sits in my living room.

BEFORE:  Chair was very dirty and had some paint spatters.  All it needs is a good cleaning.

AFTER:  Cleaned up the paint splatters and the seat.  The red color of the seat is bright and shiny now.
