A Tale of Two Cities

Tampa, FL is so different from Philadelphia, PA.  For one thing, instead of pigeons pecking around in the trash....of which Philadelphia has in abundance,  FL has pelicans.  We were hanging out at Madeira Beach this past Sunday, and we found a group of them hanging out by the back of a restaurant near the dumpsters.  It was quite an unusual sight and many of the tourists were going nuts taking pictures...including yours truly.  FL is also much cleaner and friendlier too.  At most of the restaurants we ate at, all of the wait staff were incredibly friendly and chatty...unlike Philly where you're lucky to even get a smile from a waiter or waitress.....let alone service.  One thing I can say about FL is that its HOT!!!  But to be honest, it was much more tolerable due to the low humidity there.  I'll take a dry heat over a humid day anytime!  There are much less people in FL and none of the stores or restaurants had huge crowds.  The the biggest crowed of people we encountered was when we went to Clearwater Beach to check out the pier which had a lot of arts n' crafts and see some break dancing...can u say Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo?  Seriously, these guys looked like they just stepped off the movie set from that film.  It was 2 guys from Brooklyn, NY.  They had a wisecracking sense of humor and were constantly trying to get the crowd riled up and cheering.  If they really wanted more applause, they should have used less chatter and more break dancin' in their act, but they were still entertaining...It just seemed like we were waiting forever for them to start breakin'.  Since there weren't too many people around, we never had to worry about crowds or waiting in line, except at the airport.  Every restaurant we went to had us seated immediately, and we didn't have to deal with those electronic lighted buzzers that you hang onto until your table is ready, there was no need for them.  I shouldn't really knock Philly, I've lived here my whole, life.  I shouldn't complain because right now have tremendous sports teams, especially the Phillies who are on FIRE as of late!

Glad you had a good time in Florida! I read once that pelicans have really bad breath because they store food in their flappy beak part and it rots in there. Bird, get a mint!
