Leaving on the A/C for my cat

Found this photo on Flickr, but this cat looks exactly like Mooby, my boyfriend's cat!

This morning I was talking to one of my co-workers about the current heat situation in town. We have had several consecutive days in the mid 90s with the humidity off the charts. Even walking across the room makes you break out into a sweat. Anyway, I was telling my co-worker that I left the A/C on for my 15 yo cat at home...and she started laughing hysterically! Is there something wrong with wanting my cat to be comfortable? Doesn't he deserve the comforts that we all take for granted? I think so! My boyfriend rarely uses his A/C at his place because he doesn't want to pay the huge electric bills. Over the Memorial Day weekend, it was really roasting outside and he gave into my pleas to put on the A/C, and within minutes his cat was laying in front of it, grabbing as much cool air as he could. When it gets hot out, Sammy prefers to sleep on the wood floor, even with the A/C on, because it is much cooler. When I'm not at home, he tends to hang out in the basement, just because its cooler.  I know I spoil my cat, but I feel that he deserves it, and NO, I'm not a crazy cat lady, I just love my pets and want to make them as comfortable as I can.

Sammy, hanging out in the air-conditioned living room......Ahhh that's living!

Tell your boyfriend to walk around in the heat wave wearing a big fur coat. Done right up to the neck. Then he'll put the AC on for him, you AND the cat!

When I'm over his place, he will usually put it on for me. I just feel sorry for Mooby because he suffers a little bit...but at least he has some small dark cooler places to hide out in...unlike me!

Totally not a crazy cat lady. I think it's a must to help them be comfortable in the heat. And yeah..big fur coat. Not a comfortable situation. We leave the radio on for our cats. WE are the crazy cat people. :)

I used to leave the radio on for my cats too! I thought that the hearing the voices and music would be comforting.
