Faux Sheepskin Rug!

There's nothing like a furry rug under your feet first thing in the morning.  Sadly, I cannot condone killing an animal in order to have that luxury.....IKEA to the rescue!  They have come out with an animal friendly option...the Oleby rug!  It looks like sheepskin, and has the distinctive animal shape, but it is 80% micro-acrylic and 20% polyester, and best of all, it’s only $14.99! It looks and feels very convincing and I was more than happy to buy them.  Being an animal lover, I could not justify buying the real thing...so this is a great alternative for those folks who cringe at animal pelts and deer heads.  Sadly, my computer is being worked on, so I have no photos of my own to post...but through the magic of the internets...I came across these lovely photos of the Oleby rug....ENJOY!

These bedroom shots are lovely, and I've used the rugs in a similar way in my own bedroom.

I may have steal this idea and get one for my fiberglass chair!  It really looks great!

At Young House Love they have made their own versions of the faux sheepskin rug using a shag rug and a flokati rug.  The results are fantastic!  I have an old flokati just laying about...I may have to put it to good use with this idea!

Here is the flokati rug version:

Unfortunately, I find that long-fibre rugs like that are magnets for hair, dust bunnies, etc. They're a lot of work to keep looking nice. I don't have the patience.

The oleby rug is great. I have a cat and haven't had any issues with him and the rug because it doesn't shed.
