Velvet Love

Thri

While perusing Craigslist, when I was supposed to be working, I found a woman selling a lovely pair of velvet paintings of matadors...although she referred to them as Velvedors....too funny!  I saw the photo and could not resist, I mean who doesn't love a bit of kitsch in their home? After emailing her and thankfully being the first responder, I headed over to her place after work to check out the paintings.  The woman selling them was very nice.  She told me of how she used to have a giant black velvet painting of Elvis, but he somehow got damaged beyond repair during her last move.  Her face fell and you could see the pain of the loss still resonates with her.  That velvet Elvis must have been something else!  I'm kicking myself because I forgot to ask her which Elvis style painting she had....young Elvis (when he was super hot, thinking of him in that black leather outfit...sizzling!) or Vegas style Elvis (y'know, when he wore the capes and all the sequins).  I wanted to talk to her some more, but I was parked illegally and did not want to get a parking ticket (In Philadelphia, they are brutal with the parking tickets!).  Anyway, I'm pretty happy with my Craigslist score..and the fact that I did not get a ticket.

My mother would cringe if she saw these! She HATES kitsch! I get my love of kitsch from my grandmother. Her home was filled with stuff that would sell for buckets of cash on ebay today.
