Spring has Sprung!

At lunch time today, I decided to go for a walk since this is the first sunny day we've had in a week.  After my invigorating walk, I still had some time to kill so I walked into Macy's Department store to do a little browsing.  When I stepped into the large atrium area, I was dazzled by flowers, trees and a large balloon.  It was very pretty...and I checked...all the flowers were real.  Sorry for the crappy quality of the photos, they were taken with my cellphone.

This was the view as I entered the atrium.

This is how the shoe department looks now.  Looks more like the gardening section.

This is the famed John Wannamaker Eagle that sits proudly inside the atrium.  I'm glad that Macy's decided to keep him here after they purchased the store after Wannamaker's went out of business.  Many folks were scrambling to get their photo taken in front of the Eagle.  I just adore the butterflies.

Spring is definitely in the air!  This balloon was to commemorate the Philadelphia Flower Show last month.

Love the giant butterfly flying over the jewelry counter!  It was so lovely to be there today!
Unfortunately the photos don't really capture how enchanting this all looked.  It was so much better in person.

Well, the building is a Philadelphia landmark designed by Daniel Burnham, who was the genius behind the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1892, which was dubbed the White city. He also designed the Flatiron building in NYC too. It is probably the only department store that also has a giant pipe organ. It is an incredible structure, unlike any other.
