Labor Day Weekend
My Labor Day weekend was lovely. It started out kind of gray and rainy, but ended up being quite a lovely weekend. I had never stayed in Brigantine, NJ before, and I found that I really liked it. There is not a whole lot to do there, except ride your bike around town and go to yard sales (we hit about a dozen of them on Saturday..will post my purchases up at a later date). There isn't really a boardwalk like in Wildwood, NJ, but Brigantine used to have a haunted castle back in the day. When I was a kid, they used to advertise it heavily on TV back in the 70s, and I thought it was the coolest place to go to. Sadly, the Brigantine Castle is gone...and I never got to go. My cousin went though, and told me how scary it was, with people grabbing you in the dark..my kind of scary fun. Came across this interesting website that has all the history re: the castle. Check it out here: Dark In the Park
Below is the commercial that I used to see when I was little...doesn't it look like fun? ...Ok, it looks pretty lame by today's standards of scary...but when I was a kid this looked so scary! Watching this ad makes me wonder whatever happened to that head?
