Nimoy Sunset Pie

I have no words to describe this site.  It is odd, hilarious and  strange and somewhat trippy!  I love it!   Here are a few of my favorite images from the site.

Adventures in Thrifting!

As promised, here are photos from my recent visit at the Mega-huge church garage sale!  Some lovely goodies were to be found...and I spent less than $20 bucks for my entire haul!

As soon as I saw this, I grabbed, it.  I already had a bunch of other items in my hand and ended up balancing my items on the tray like I was a waitress in a crowded diner.

Fell in love with this lovely leaf-shaped wood bowl.  Not sure what kind of wood it is, possibly koa?  It is incredibly gorgeous...the photo does not do it justice.

I always love me some vintage pottery.  One of them is dated 1968 with the name Thielen carved into it and the other has the initials KTM.  These were probably made by some hippie art student in the late 60s.  I'm totally feeling these....very groovy!

When I first arrived at the garage sale, I spotted this lovely floor lamp from across the parking lot.  By the time I got close to it, some guy was already checking it out and I thought to myself "Oh no! I'm here too late"  but luckily for me, the guy had second thoughts and walked away.  As soon as he was out of sight, I ran up and grabbed it...its mine!  MINE!!!.  Felt even more gratified when the guy working the garage sale said it was $5...SCORE!

When I saw this domed cheese plate I knew I had to have it.  I love the bright yellow color.  Nearby, I also spotted a vintage fondue pot with electric hotplate, but since the  it was missing many of the accessories that went with it, I passed on it...still having second thoughts on that one.  One of these days I'll have a wine and cheese party with cheeseballs and fondue while playing some Lovin' Spoonful or some Grass Roots in the background...just like mom!

Found this lovely vintage Pyrex bowl with ivy on the side.  It is incredibly huge and has a pouring spout on one end and a handle on the other.  It really needs a good cleaning, but I'm happy to add to my ever growing vintage pyrex collection.  I also managed to pick up a white baking dish by FireKing that had peaches painted on the side.  Unfortunately, I forgot to photograph it because it was already in use storing some food in my fridge.

Love this super cute milk glass chicken in a basket.  I already have a small collection of chickens in baskets, as well as a small collection of milk glass.  This could be part of both collections...doubly thrifty!

I hate Munderday!

Arrgh...This past Saturday, I went to a mega-humongous garage sale at a local church. In my rush to get to work this morning I forgot to bring in my camera to download my pictures of all my fabulous purchases (will have to do that tomorrow). The garage sale was jam packed with so much stuff it was ready to burst at the seams. There was more stuff piled underneath all the tables, but it was difficult to look there since there were so many people. There was a lot of junk to sort through, but there were also some gems to be found.  You could spot something at one of the tables, but you had to pray that by the time you fought through the crowd to get to it, that the item in question was still there before someone else snatched it up. Luckily, I got just about everything I had my eye on, except one mid century mod shelving unit. As soon as I spotted it, some woman grabbed it and hauled it out of there. As she whizzed by I saw the $20 price tag and wanted to cry. I didn't even get to touch it! :(

Oh My Back!

Yes folks, I hurt my back!  Since I'm in great pain, I cannot sit at my computer for too long, so I'll make this post short and sweet.  Please enjoy this retro goodness!

Ahhh...makes me almost forget my own pain! Poor Marcia...no date with Doug!

Easter Yeggs!

This was one of my favorite Bugs Bunny cartoons. I love it when Bugs says "Well Dats Dat!" Funny Stuff! Makes me wanna an Easta Egg! Enjoy!

"Remember, Keep Smilin'!" LOL!

Spring has Sprung!

At lunch time today, I decided to go for a walk since this is the first sunny day we've had in a week.  After my invigorating walk, I still had some time to kill so I walked into Macy's Department store to do a little browsing.  When I stepped into the large atrium area, I was dazzled by flowers, trees and a large balloon.  It was very pretty...and I checked...all the flowers were real.  Sorry for the crappy quality of the photos, they were taken with my cellphone.

This was the view as I entered the atrium.

This is how the shoe department looks now.  Looks more like the gardening section.

This is the famed John Wannamaker Eagle that sits proudly inside the atrium.  I'm glad that Macy's decided to keep him here after they purchased the store after Wannamaker's went out of business.  Many folks were scrambling to get their photo taken in front of the Eagle.  I just adore the butterflies.

Spring is definitely in the air!  This balloon was to commemorate the Philadelphia Flower Show last month.

Love the giant butterfly flying over the jewelry counter!  It was so lovely to be there today!
Unfortunately the photos don't really capture how enchanting this all looked.  It was so much better in person.
